Five signs a mobile strategy game respects your brain

Mobile strategy is a crowded, sometimes cynical genre. A lot of it is dressed-up waiting. But the good ones are excellent, and there are tells you can look for before you commit hours.

First: does positioning matter more than numbers? In Tidewatch Command, a scout in the right spot beats a bigger fleet in the wrong one. That's a healthy sign. Second: can you pause and think? If everything demands split-second taps, it's an action game wearing a strategy coat.

Third: does the tutorial trust you? Good strategy games explain a system and then let you use it, rather than holding your hand for an hour. Fourth: is difficulty about smarter play, not just tougher stat checks?
